Stylists tell us time and time again that small and seemingly insignificant accessories can make all the difference in a simple outfit. Tasteful accessories, however, should not overpower your look – their job is to add flair without letting you disappear in a sea of people!
A necklace is a strong accent with which you can diversify your outfit. A subtle gold chain, a massive string of pearls or a pendant will emphasise your style and personality. What to keep in mind when matching necklaces? First of all, the closest necklace to the neck should be an adjacent, thin and subtle one. Secondly, there should be about 12 mm space between the first and second layer of jewelry. For each subsequent layer, a gap of about 2.5 mm is enough. Thirdly, do not be afraid to experiment: combine different colored metals with precious stones and attract attention with original patterns!
If you like to wear blazers with pants, pearls will add femininity and sophistication to your outfit. You can wear them in many different ways: layered, with chains or with coral. You can wrap pearls twice around your neck, tie a knot, or decorate them with an original brooch. If you want to look more glamorous, you may cross a string of pearls on your back, which was Coco Chanel’s favorite style. Don’t forget to pin your hair up high above the nape of your neck.
Brooches and decorative safety pins can be a great accent to your everyday outfit. If you want to spice up your business outfit, choose a brooch with a geometric or asymmetrical shape or in a contrasting color. Want to add a touch of elegance to your denim styling? Pin a flower brooch on yourself and get in the holiday spirit. Butterfly or dragonfly brooches are extravagant – the bigger the better. You can also combine different metals and textures: matt, shiny, silver, gold or brass.
Bracelets can play a leading or supporting role in your outfit. There is a wide range of bracelets to choose from: wide, tight-fitting bracelets, round bangles, bracelets that wrap around the wrist, bracelets with pendants, diamonds or large links. Combine a leather bracelet with a gold chain or tennis bracelet with diamonds, interlace bracelets of different thickness or create an unusual composition: wear a cuff bracelet with a few thin chains overlapping your watch.
A wedding ring, cocktail ring, solitaire – these are just a handful of ornaments that wear the proud title of a ring. Though small in size, it adds a unique touch to a style
How to wear rings and create an original composition on your hands? First of all, take into account the length of your fingers: if they are slim and long, you do not have to worry about the height of the ring. Just remember that it should not go beyond the knuckle. If your fingers are short and chubby, choose rings with a thin band. Secondly, hands do not like the company of too many massive rings – one strong accent is enough.
Earrings are the undisputed leader when it comes to women’s ornaments. Designers regularly present a mass of new variants. The most popular are small earrings that adhere to the lobe of the ear and are fixed with a post. Small pearls hanging from the earlobe add elegance. For bold and feisty women, we recommend ear cuffs adorning the entire length of the ear, while ladies who appreciate subtle jewelry with character – ear cuffs on a thin chain.
